Lyrics of the Day #11

"If Heaven was a mile away
And you could ride by the gates
Would you try to run inside when it opens would you try to die today?
Would you pray louder finally believing His power?
Even if you couldn't see, but you could feel would you still doubt him?
How would you start acting?
Would you try to put the ki's down?
Thinking every drug sell that you make in the streets He can see now
Would a fiend even want to get high, would he stop smoking?
If he knew on his own two feet he could just stroll in
To get away and escape from the craziness
And I bet you there's a Heaven for an atheist
It's hard taking this
Racist planet where they take another brother in a handcuff
Even if he innocent nigga get on the car put your motherfucking hands up
Thinking I'm a lose it
My mom's in chemo
Three times a week, yo keep trying but people
Is hard and God your young soldier's not so bold
But needs you
This world's my home but world I would leave

"Heaven" - Nas
Old classic.
Deep song from God's Son.
Love the subject material.
Listen close.
Peace.

Random Weekend Poetry

"Distant"
I built my house far from the world.
Far from the hustle and bustle, which made my head twirl.
Built in a space far from all others.
Built in a place where peace and quiet forms tranquility.
Far from the loud noises in the city considered normality.
In a place where ones thoughts can be heard.
Emotions shown in expression, without speaking a word.
A place where ideals reign supreme, yes that's my dream.
I will build my house far from the world, does that seem obscene.

Actually had some fun with this one.
No idea where it came from.
Just suddenly had to write.
Feedback por favor?
Insights.
Go for it.
Peace.

Lyrics of the Day #10

"Brace yourself like overbite
'For that quiet nigga that relocated down south
Coming back to floss'
Nigga get your molars right
Fix your grill
No plaque but a whole lot of cheese
This the drill
Mr. Chill
Gave me the green light like Yoda knife
So I'ma force my will
Like the Force I wield
Of course you will
Take my time
But weight behind only pertains
To that Porsche grill
It's snakes in the hood
Gotta watch for that Cobra bite
Let me see
There's snakes in the hood
A bird, a horse behind the grill
Something gator on the seat
And a fox behind the wheel"

"Failure" - Lupe Fiasco
Lupe back when he was more aggressive in his rhymes.
I wanna know who produced this beat cuz its sick.
Let me know if u know.
Thanks.
Peace.

Lyrics of the Day #9

"Mary Jane invades my brain now I can't complain
I'm sayin what else is there to do besides relax
Let the problems in your mind become ancient artifacts
Perhaps these raps can help you alleviate
The things that's got you trippin you watch me demonstrate
First you ignore the nonsense and clear your conscience
Let your pen touch the paper write verbs and consonants
As the words become a sentence you start to feelin different
The stress is out your mind you feel like the weight was lifted
Terrific I'm glad we had this time to discuss
I'm outro call me if you want to blaze one up"
[Chorus]
"When the stress burns my brain just like acid raindrops,
Mary Jane is the only thing that makes the pain stop.
I let the music take over my soul, body and mind
To kick back relax one time and you goin find
When the stress burns my brain just like acid raindrops,
Mary Jane is the only thing that makes the pain stop.
Just let the music take over my soul, body and mind
To kick back relax one time and you goin find"

"Acid Raindrops" - People Under the Stairs
Sick song. Sick beat. Sick lyrics.
But hey what else is new.
I only quote bomb songs.

Lyrics of the Day #8

"They say you don't know, know, know what you got
Till what u got is gone
Yeah I write such and such, yo a lot but the feelings not as strong
We were like 2 birds that were able to fly
I try to pick the right words to say to the sky
Some days I would try but wasn't able to cry
I never been good at saying goodbye
I take a deep breath when the times is hard
When I reminisce over you, my God
I spent many years trying to be the heartthrob
I guess it's only right that I got my heart robbed
The scent of a room that reminds me of you
A hint of perfume it reminds me of you
Take a look at the moon it reminds me of you
Hope the stars and the gods align me and you."

"I Want You" - Common
Love this song.
Stylish beat provided by Will.I.Am, who I usually don't like but he killed it on this beat.
G.O.O.D. Music is staying true to its record label name.
Word.
Peace.

Lyrics of the Day #7

"The intentions, of reminiscence is essential
On how I had dreams of a youth now monumental
It's comin' true, things I've said have come to pass
And emcees would get busy but still won't get no cash
Some talents get the stash with skills as half as yours
It's not about styles it's what the crowd you had applaused
This unified circle, slip up it hurts you
So I spread forth and my thoughts make miracles
With my syllables I'm killin' you, but never softly
I'm unique, my critique speaks of my physique
From Chicago to Cairo, skills like the mic
On emcees I make em think that I was Heiro
Glyphics, now the whole world can read the message
Fake emcees couldn't walk through my passage
Afu-Ra, shake the world with agility
Master self I whirlwind through cities"

"Whirlwind Thru Cities" - Afu-Ra

All should check out this entire song. This is true lyricism at its finest.
I don't think I've ever heard a whole song with each verses as strong as each other, equally.
Listen to this, its art. It's true Hip-Hop. It shows a true MC.
Open your ears.
Peace.

It Wasnt Meant To Be

Loyola came so close tonight to beating the #2 team in California, #9 in the nation, but sadly lost the game late in the 4th quarter. The final score was 21-27. I'm still proud of the effort my fellow Cubs showed out on that field. De La Salle sucks anyways, we almost beat them and we're not even ranked nationally. What now.

Friday, September 19, 2008

Actually.

I had a really good time tonight at my last Loyola dance.
Damn I still remember my first one freshman yr. Good times.
Lenny completely killed it. Awesome planning. Props to u my good sir.
Sick freestyle after the dance with Hugh, D, Damin, Primetime, Sean on the melody, and Ez on the beats. I finally got off. It felt good to let out some free verses from the top of the dome, but no one can beat Hugh, he is just to sick wit it.

NOW, big day tomorrow too.
Big game against De La Salle manana at 7pm at Glendale HS. BE THERE!
You dont wanna miss it.
Its gonna be epic.
Trust fam.

GO CUBS!!!
Peace.

Potential

Just go.
It'll be fun....hopefully.

Lyrics of the Day #6

"Well, i know im not the coolest and this might sound kind of foolish
cause i know im not the smoothest told myself i shouldnt do this
cause im not very well suited not the popularest of students
we aint in the same crowd i always see you with the hoopers
but we got the same lunch, you might see me with the cooler
thats cause i dont eat pork, you can never be shook up
oh, you like Linkin Park, thats the hat from the tour
i got an autographed shirt they wrote "Much Love To Ya"
Man, its really funny how we like the same music
but i really love jazz i was gonna play the tuba
i tried to join the band they said i was really really bad
didnt really make me sad, im used to being a loser
but you, i think you're super, so much i had to pursue ya
i dont believe the things they say on the football team rumors
the quarterback cant spell, im his after school tutor
i just took a cue from cupid, but now i think its stupid, im sorry..
and then i walked away, think that she'll never talk to me
like, what were you thinking bringing up the band,
you wouldve gotten a better result if you'd beat her up and ran
you shouldnt've wore your glasses, take your shirt up out your pants
so now its all over, you wont get another chance, Damn..
i was so close to her, then i felt a hand on my shoulder
she say i know you're not the coolest but i swear you are the cutest
and i know you play the tuba, i seen you at the recitals
it takes alot to get up there and embarrass yourself
but you shouldnt put down, you should merit yourself
that just mean you're not a punk, i like Thelonius Monk
he's the wallpaper on my computer, i love Final Fantasy
i hate first-person shooters, Meteora was nice, but i bought Hybrid Theory twice
half the cheerleading squad is in a stupor, the only reason i do it is cause my mother took state when she was a junior
and she want me to do the same, so im like *sigh*
i wanna be an oncologist and diagnose tumors
i got a pet parrot his name is Mr. Tuna, my favorite food is fish remember that for the future
my IM name is Miss Luna, you can hit me up at 6..

How you feelin' man?..Yes..Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes!
Come Seymour, we have things to doo!
That was wonderful, you did things to me, you've never done before
AHH! You're that nerd!"

"And He Gets The Girl" - Lupe Fiasco
I HAD to post this whole song because honestly the lyrics are ON point.
We've all felt this way at least one time in our lives.
We're not always 100% sure of ourselves and get nervous, its normal.
This song just rings so true to me.
Lyrical genius.
Lupe Fiasco is the Coole$t.

Lyrics of the Day #5

"See I remember when My folks said you'll know what I mean...
When you get older, I was only a teen
Thinking that I was a grown up...PLEASE, I had so much to see
Thinking the little that I saw was all the world had to offer to me
At 18 I had it of in the streets without guidance
Just the eyes of god watching over me it's time"
&
"I'm walkin in the shoes of a giant
And I was a fan of Jordan way before I knew Bryant
Lost my great grey suit but I was through crying
So I hear tears behind my suit and tie and...
Now you can find it through my rhyming
Cause my timing has come
And you gon know my whole story by the time I get done
Rising like the shining sun"

"In Remembrance of Me"-Blu & Exile.
Get on that Blu & Exile tip if you aint on it yet.
Your missing out.
His lyrics speak so many truths, like I have so much yet to see.
Life is still young.
Don't hinder yourself.
Grow.
Peace.

Where's Quasimoto??

Can you find him?

Musical Affects

I've come to realize slowly over the years that music can really affect and change lives.
It's changed mine, maybe not drastically where I've had a revelation and all of a sudden I LOVE music, but it has in small ways. I've come to use music as one of the ways I relieve stress, just pop in the cassette (I mean iPod), sit back, and let the sounds and lyrics wash over you.

It really is a relaxing exercise.
I often find my mind beginning to drift whenever I listen to a song with really meaningful lyrics.
"Believe Me" is one of my favorite songs to reminisce about past events to, especially about my experiences this summer at Brown.

Some advice, take some time from your busy schedule and listen to some music.
It'll do wonders.
Peace.

Lyrics of the Day #4

"Deep breath, I request a requiem for apathy
Momentarily lost hope, but now it’s back in me
Temporarily felt defeated by the game
Then the light came just after the nightingale sang
Thank whoever you wish for the gift received
I let it be the definition of me, the emcee
Share thoughts with the downtrodden – intent:
To tap into the wealth of knowledge my people gain upon the avenue
I keep that close to my heart, though it seems like we’re
Oceans apart, the feedback is my motive to start
The reconstruction of the original ark – you’re safe
Just let the waves carry you out the dark
Brighter days await, the nemesis has sealed his fate
Only the true will pass through this gate
And you are one of those chosen – proof is in the fact
You’re right here – soul wide open to rap" - "Re-fresh" by Common Market

Common Market has funky beats and lyrics not to mess with.
Definitely check them out if you've never heard of them.

"Just not a go getta,
objective more than just to hit her,
i wanna take my time n listen to her past,
when our paths cross,
its a different math,
see in hell the 4th dimension will crash,
time will stop and I will laugh,
'cuz my ladies by my side
and we're ready to ride at the drop of a dime,
kiss me on my arms n tell me im fine."
&
"Your parents must have been artists,
and I was the target,
when they released a masterpiece called it a daughter
I'm sorta astonished, been tarnished,
So you are my polish,
always have courage, never nervous,
for my love u are determined,
your worth every second of service
every molecule is beautiful so I cant stop thinking of you,
'cuz the canvas was true..."

Good shit right there.
Honestly, cant get enough of it.

Lyrics of the Day

"The sound of rain is the backdrop,
layin' there,
like she's waitin' for someone to say they care,
while the tears of God fall down the window pane,
she feels unholy, like the Father doesn't know her name.
Mary Magdalen, and the women at the well, he knew everything that happened,
and in His arms she fell." - "Constance" by Mr. J. Medeiros

If you havent heard this song, check it out.
Its real deep.
Hit he hard the first time I heard it.

Ever Wonder Why...

Why?
Why does life have to be so hard?
Why cant you have it all?
Why cant you be perfect?
Why cant your relationships work out the way you want them to?
Why do your College Apps have to give you so much stress?
Why do you feel inadequate?
Why did they have to die?
Why did you have to leave?
Why did they have to go?
Why did things have to change?
Why couldnt it be?
Why did they fall?
Why did you let yourself down?
Why did you do it?
Why not?
Why....

I wonder why.

Lyrics of the Day

"If it wasn't for a mic check I wouldn't have a check at all
Nowadays you can't live that way
The markets way too unstable, there's too many pimp labels
Playing rappers like a ho, manhandlin' the dough"-Asheru on "If" by Kenn Starr

Kanye??

Kanye just leaked a new song from his upcoming album being dropped in December. Its called "Love Lockdown" and I'm not sure what to think. I think it's an alright song, but I was expecting more from Kanye especially after the Graduation which was awesome in my eyes.
Check it out and decide for yourself.

Late Night Thoughts...

The stars.

Whenever I look up at the stars, I always pick out one single star and just stare at it. I think about anything on my mind, I just let my mind race full of thoughts and ideas. Whether it be the cute girl I talked to today or the homework that I still need to do, I'll think about anything.
Then I stop.

I stop thinking, clear my mind, and just lay there, quietly looking in awe at the whole universe right in front of my eyes. Its a pretty humbling experience each and every time.
You should try it sometime.
Check out the stars.

Plaid Everywhere

Last night was a good night. I would have to say one of the better Bosco dances that I've been to. There wasnt as many people as usual but it was all good. Maybe I have matured where my self confidence has gone to another level or maybe its because I'm a senior and just dont care what other people think, but all I know is that I didnt care when I got rejected. Now I'm not saying that I got rejected alot, I'm just saying I didnt care when it happened. It was my friend Paolo's first time at a Bosco dance and after he said it was one of the best nights of his life, a testimony to how good it was right there. I got to see Clarissa and Kayla for the first time in toooo long. Oh and yes the rumors are true Clarissa really DOES know how to dance, the long line of guys waiting to dance with her last night proved it. Went to The Hat after with Andy and Kevin for a late night snack. Chili cheese fries, mhmmm......

Overall a good night.
I can tell its gonna be a good senior year.
Peace.

Got Respect.....Naww

Palin doesnt have my respect anymore.
Aright sure she is the first ever female vice president nominee. Well congratulations on that, seriously that is amazing, she will go down in history. But come on she could have had more class and respect towards her Democrat opponents in her speech. Ok so you might be sayin "Hey Obama called out McCain to in his speech? Arent you being a little unfair?" But my response to that is Obama called McCain out but also gave him his due credit as a good senator and a respected veteran towards our country. Palin just called out Obama and walked all over him with no regard to his accomplishments at all. Not classy at all. Thus loss of MY repsect.
What a shame.

Obama for president '08.
Peace.

City Walking

Went to the City Walk for surprisingly the first time ever last Friday. Pretty chill night overall, I saw Tropic Thunder which was freakin hilarious with Ez and Andy and then met up with Simon and just chilled the rest of the night. Andy and I squared off on the air hockey battle field and I won by a slim margin of 1 point (I want a rematch to see if I can beat him again). Simon and Ez played twice and each time one blew the other out of the water so they are even with 1-1.

Free candy....or is it "free" candy.

Busy Busy Busy

Being busy has become the norm lately....I guess I better get used to it.
