The Brew

Warm Brew, I would recommend you take a listen.
I saw them in a show last night and was impressed by their energy. A fellow MPC member, Spencer Richardson, the producer is doing us proud. Check him out as well.

"Oh Baby" is my personal favorite track.
Look them up on Facebook. Gotta support good Los Angeles hip-hop.

T.R.O.G.

The TROG's most recent post inspired me to acknowledge the fact that home isn't a physical place, its the people who make it home. I love my family and friends. They truly accept me for me, whether I' dressed nice, or I look like crap. They are the ones who are there for you. Let those you love know it this season.

Love y'all from the West coast to the East coast.

Privatization of World Peace

Iron Man 2.

I can NOT wait till this comes out.

I still need to see Avatar.
3D or no 3D?

New Artist

Gyft.
I gotta admit, beat is hard, and the concept behind the video is pretty original. I didn't know, now I do.

Almost

Almost there, almost back home. Today I officially finished my 1st semester at Haverford College when I turned in my last final. Oh it feels so good!

Now I get to relax, listen to music, play video games, and work out for the next two days until I fly home for the amazing Christmas break.
It's going to be epic.

Great memories made here at Haverford. Many still to be made.

L.A.

I've been having a fun time updating my facebook status with various words which have LA in it.

Such as "3 days till I LAnd."

1 final down. 1 paper down.
1 final to go (and I'm almost done with that too).

I thought this picture was really fantastic.

Buckle Down

Finals week has officially begun. As I sit here in my room studying and fighting the urge to constantly go on facebook I look at the picture below. I remind myself I'll be back there in 6 days and to go hard before I go home.

Freestyle Friday's.
Cipher Saturday's.
To be continued...in LA.

Shock Value 2

Timbaland stepped up big on this album. I have had this album on rotation nonstop since I've got it. Best believe it will be gracing my ears on the long flights home to the city of lights after dark.

Favorite song was tough to decide, Lose Control.

A Moment Frozen in Time

A picture is a moment frozen in time.

Pretty epic definition.

This last week of classes has been absurdly stressful, full of homework, papers, and tests. Next week shall be intense with all the finals.

9 days until I fly back to LA and will thoroughly enjoy the month off.

2 Die & Live in LA

This song has been in constant rotation in my mind as I've been walking around campus lately. I miss LA. I can't wait for christmas break. Love my family!

Yezzir

14 Days until the warm weather of Los Angeles embraces my body.

It's the weekend, dance concert tonight, and unknown shit going down manana.

Be safe. Be high. Be drunk. Be rollin. Be stunnin. Be wild. Be bad. Be good.

Just be...

Count Down

I love count downs.

I hate count downs.

The end of the count down can either be amazing or horrible. I'm lucky at the end of this count day equals Christmas break, going home, family, and friends. I don't think it can get better than that. If you know something better than that let me know.

Giving Thanks in NYC

I was in the one and only New York City this past Thanksgiving break. I stayed with my boy Simon and his family in the Bronx, which by the way gets a bad rep and it really isn't bad. What is as bad as every one says is how rude the average New Yorker is.

Good times were had. 3 week till I'm back in lovely LA.
I finally got some boots.

Wipe It Down

It has been established, finals will be a very stressful time in my life. On another note, playing Halo 3 has slowly taken over my life. I am getting better, watch yo back Trav!

Thanksgiving will be spent in the Bronx with my fellow Cub Simon and his familia.

Happy holidays!

Style Points

Me-"I'm cold."
East coast native-"Pshh. It's not cold, boy you crazy."
Me- "Nah, it's fuckin cold. I need a damn winter jacket!"

I finally obtained a gangsta-ass jacket.

CHAS conference this weekend in Skidmore, NY with my boys Travis and Bert.

Diss

I learned I handle confrontations really well. I keep a level head and speak my piece. I don't try and interject or impose my beliefs on other people because they don't have to believe what I do. It's all good because it is what it is.

I booked my ticket to NYC for Thanksgiving to visit Simon. I'm MAD excited. I've picked up slang from my east coaster friends and I now say MAD in front of things which aren't the slightly related to the word MAD.

Shits MAD crazy.
I'm MAD hungry.
She's MAD hot.
Man that's MAD hilarious.
I'm MAD mad.

Well maybe not that last one.

Let the week begin.

Strike

SEPTA is on strike. SEPTA is like Metro in LA. Buses and trains are all delayed or not running at all.

I was up till 2:30 AM memorizing my Spanish oral presentation, I got it down. I was supposed to present today. My teacher couldn't make it because of the SEPTA strike. I should be happy but I'm not because I really wanted to go today. Damn. C'mon SON!

Halloween

This past weekend was the best weekend thus far at Haverford.

I just let the good times roll.

Balled again. Lost again, but this time by 3.
We'll get it eventually, I just gotta get my confidence back on the court. I got this.

Ez, Simon, PF, and all my boys and girls. Love yall.

Costumes

I am going to be a new boy for Halloween.
In case you don't know who they are, they are one of the stars of the jerkin movement. Main reason for being them, I get to buy something I would wear anyways and say its a costume. Smart shit huh. Money well spent.

Remixxx

I love remixes.
They usually are remakes of songs you already enjoy.

I miss my boys from L.A. all doing their own thing in colleges across this great land of the "free."
CHAS conference is coming up, which should be interesting. SOA dinner tonight, yum.

In recent news Loyola lost to Saint Francis.....

Hoop Dreams

I played my first intramural basketball game today.
We had 6 players on our team. We lost by more than 6 points.

It wasn't really close. The opposing team scored 8 three pointers, and around 14 regular buckets. We barely scored 24 points. I didn't bring my A game, no more excuses, practice starts manana.

I gotta get back in shape for my team.
I got hoop dreams once again.

Farewell

It was a great week in Los Angeles, but I head back to rainy Philadelphia tomorrow.

Thanks to all those who took part in making this week one to remember.

Love y'all.

Bridges

This week off has been relaxing and rejuvenating so far.
I've seen my abuelitas, cousins, and some of my friends.

Today I go to visit my old high school, Loyola and then USC.

Bridges always fascinated me because of their massive structure being held up by opposing forces. Incredible.

I need to find a wool peat coat.

Home Sweet Home

Back home once again, in lovely Los Angeles.
This song has been on repeat lately, love the retro feel.

PF told me to make a schedule for the week, so I did.
It looks pretty baller, I must admit.
First up is the Loyola football game tonight, get 'em Cubs.

On Top

Los Angeles is in my near future, and with it comes family, friends, and good food.

In-n-out.

Really Now?

When I was applying to colleges, I made sure each one had a radio show because I was vehement about being a host of my own show.

I find out today, I can't do this because I missed interviews due to conflicts of schedule, even though I tried to make 2 of them up with out any effort on the other parties side. I am a bit peeved.

The radio on my campus is pretty much dead, there is no more online radio, they only have DJ's who spin at live events, which is dope and all but I think its wack there are no disc jockey's here who share their musical libraries with the rest of campus. I imagined students tuning in online during late nights to listen to the jams spun by these late night musical guru's.

I gotta wait a whole year.
Shit.

I'm jealous of LMU, I could've spun there.

11:01

The weekend is over and the start of the new week begins.

All I gotta say is I can't wait for fall break in 2 weeks.
Back to lovely Los Angeles.

Trickin

Trickin is a style of dance, a mix of martial arts and break dancing. In my eyes its pretty much being a ninja dancer.

Let the weekend festivities begin!

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Alas

The final piece of the puzzle is in place.

The last member of the MPC crew finally made it to college.
Best wishes to my boy Ez.

I got a my first college test tomorrow, I'm about to study in the science library where it's quite.

Responsibility and time management is key.

Man In Space

Man on the Moon, Kid Cudi's debut album is incredible. The intro is on point and sets the mood of the whole project. I also heard the Blue Print 3, and though I liked it, its replay quality isn't that great.

Props to both artists though. I know Adam B. doesn't agree, but it's ok, SHOUT OUT!

Coming of Age

I can honestly say I can see myself growing up.
Serious discussions are not to be shied from simply due to fear of awkwardness or the unknown consequences.

I did this tonight and everything worked out great. I feel really great about the situation, talk, and myself.

I'm finally off my crutches. Yes.

Make That Paper

I finally got a job at the DC!

I shall begin my working days on Tuesday.

Oh and I'll finally be off crutches on Thursday.

Pac Div

This is my favorite track off of "Church League Champions." Pac Div in my opinion is coming out with some of the hottest flows from L. A. right now.

MC's gotta step up their game just to contend.

Good listen.

Hello World

Last night was great.

I saw the first 36 minutes of Saw, and gotta say I was not really impressed. I mean it was good, but I feel the movie Seven dominates all of the Saw's combined.

My ankle has steadily been getting better, and I look forward to being off the crutches by Wednesday, Thursday the latest.

I love everything about this song and video, nostalgic of the 90's.

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Floating.

Studying for Spanish class tomorrow, listening to this on repeat in the background.

I hope all my brodies from L.A. are doing there thing in college and having a great time.

Today I ate a piece of snicker doodle cake for the first time. I loved it.

Free Falling

It's funny how some things work out. I've come to learn it's best to just be up front about how you feel and let the chips fall where they may because you can't control everything. Sometimes they fall right where you want them too but the timing isn't right. In that case you just gotta wait and be patient.

I think I can do that, even though patience is not one of my strong points.

Last night was great on so many levels.

Free falling, take a listen it'll sooth your soul.

R.I.P. To all those who have died recently.

Blue Scholars Say "Oof!"

Blue Scholar's hasn't come out with some new music in a minute, but to my great surprise I found out they released a new EP a couple of days ago.

I love it already. The sounds different than their older stuff but it shall be gracing my speakers in my dorm room for a while.

Get it here.

GTG

Great new found friends surround me at Haverford.

Since I sprained my ankle I've been on crutches and they go out of there way to visit me or help me at the dining center. I can't be thankful enough.

Classes are slowly falling into place, fingers crossed I get the Spanish class. If not my schedule is gonna take the whole week to fill out.

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Fuck

I sprained my ankle really bad.

I hate crutches.

Haverford

I love it here.

I miss LA and all my friends, however I am living in the moments I am lucky enough to have here on this beautiful campus which is filled of just as beautiful people.

Last night I ate a random mix of food, crabs, twizzlers, popcorn, and cookies. Yum.

Meeting new people is fun.

CH

Check this out.

Hilarious!!!

Last & First

This is a monumental moment, this is my last most from Los Angeles.

The next one will be from my new home for 4 years, Haverford, Philadelphia.

Freshman 15, study sessions at 2 A.M., partying it up, balling on the court, and more here I come.

(500) Days of summer deserves better than a C+, more like an A+.
Great movie on relationships because it shows reality, not some Disney fairy tale story.

Luggage

Today and tomorrow I will be packing for Haverford.

I can honestly say I am ready for college, yet I must say I will truly miss high school. Good times, life memories, but many more lie ahead of me in college.

It's just too bad there isn't enough time to see everyone before I leave. I don't think I will be coming back for Thanksgiving, potential trip up to D.C.

Enjoy the rest of the summer L.A.

(500) Days of Summer

All I can say is go see this movie.

Any review I attempt to make will not do it justice.

Amazing. Stellar. Classic. Brilliant. Stunning. Majestic.

On another note, Brazilian food is amazing.
Love ya Michelle, best friends since kinder.

New sounds. Love it.

Blueberry pie. Yum.

Blackberry's are the new yum.

In my living room chatting with PF and Simon, close friends of mine.

College approaches, I am excited but I'll miss times like this, memories being made, bonds being strengthened.

Buds 4 life. No joke.

Hammocks Are Not Swings...

April, Kristina, and Karina dropped by mi casa to hang out yesterday.

No, not at all.

Garage, Pizza, & Swedish Fish

Another poker night went down last night at mi casa.

As we played, the fact I was leaving in 8 days really began to set in. I will truly miss seeing all of my high school friends on a regular basis. Thank God for face book, it'll make staying in touch a lot easier.

This has been the best summer of my life in LA.
Thanks to all those who played there part in it.

'Ish

I traveled to many places and searched for many items today.

Luckily I found the majority of them. College shopping can be exhausting at times, but also exhilarating. In less than 2 weeks I will be in Haverford, Pennsylvania starting my college career.

I will enjoy the company of my closest friends for the remaining time I have in LA.

Poker night's, movie's, beach days, going away parties, and the list goes on.

Keep ya heads up out there.

Cake Fight!

Karin's birthday was yesterday...or today. I don't know to be honest, but I do know this pick below shows how ghetto Pico Rivera is because ACS had to use duct tape because the needles wouldn't fit on the bags of icing. hah.

Karina's initial reaction to us being at her house exactly at 12 to celebrate her birthday.

After Karina's first bite from the cake, you could tell she didn't like it, words were exchanged between Karina and ACS and before you knew it.....

they were fighting with cake!! Ok that's not what happened at all, but it could've happened like that. I'm sure you can guess who was the instigator to this shenanigans (hint: asian girl on the right).

I too was a victim to this madness, me an innocent bystander. Oh well it was fun.
Good times.

Thought I was going to San Diego for the weekend, but it doesn't look like it. Damn.

Absence

Tomorrow I leave for the infamous annual Carpinteria camping trip.

I haven't really gone for the full 7 days in 2.5 years, so I am thoroughly looking forward to lazy days bumming at the beach and chill nights in front of the bonfire.

I'll be out from the 25th through the 2nd, so no new posts during those dates.

I shall say though, upon my return I will get my revenge and win the 4th title in the poker championship series.

And if you like fish and grits and all that pimp shit
Everybody let me hear you say O-Yea-yer"

Poker night manana. Chips, cards, beats, and rhymes shall be laid out.

Let's get it.
Peace.

Mustang

Mustang's can go very....very fast.

Good times last night with my cousin and his friends. Random as hell, but still pretty fun.

Dodgers whooped on the Reds. Go Blue!

Carpinteria in 3 days.

Poker night in 1 day.

I finished writing my verse for "Take Twelve." I don't know, I think its pretty good, but who knows what everyone else will think. We shall see.

16 Bars

Thursday is poker night, 3rd chance to redeem myself and win some gaup. It might be fate because after I ate chinese food last night, my fortune cookie raised my spirits.

16 bars must be written and rehearsed about having my "heartbroken/revenge track", 3 MC's, 3 verses, this should be interesting.

I gotta put some thought into this because the other 2 MC's on the track are beasts.

Get 'em.

I love funk music.

Lost Generation (LG)

After 3 longs years the day finally came.

I walked out of the Verizon store with a new LG Env3 cell phone.

I will miss my old LG phone, it had been through so much, so many memories.

Good times had, and good times to come with this new phone.

Harry Potter was pretty good, now I want to read the book.

Clashing of Sound

I received this the other day in the mail, and popped it right into the DVD player and laid back. I was blown away at the amount of talent all 6 of these producers/DJ's have together. My personal favorite battle was Will.I.Am. VS. Thes One. I thought Thes One won, and his second beat used parts of the Jackson's 5 infamous "I Want You Back." It was amazing to say the least.

I would highly recommend you coming over to my house to check it out.

Manhattan beach, part 2, today. Lets get it.

"You know, you maybe the best friend I've ever had."

He's Just Not That Into You trailer

I am probably really late on this movie review, but I just watched it yesterday when I had a movie night with my mom. It was hilarious, yet so true! Almost every 15 minutes I would find myself saying "Shit, I've said that before!" or "Damn, I gotta watch out." I would highly recommend this movie to all who want a good laugh yet want to learn a little.

Hodgy Beats finally released the much anticipated "The Dena Mixtape." Good music in general, but far from the norm you are all used to. True experimental hip hop. I love it.

Favorite song is "Skinny Rapper."

Good times yesterday.

It Is What It Is

Bonfire was very relaxing last night. I had a great time. I didn't realize how much I'd missed the beach. First person to say Happy Birthday ACS, very proud of that because I did that without a working clock.

I got a ticket on the way home. Damn it.

I couldn't go to ACS's birthday shin dig at her house today. Gotta admit I feel pretty bad.

I hate letting people down.

Shit.

Hopefully I can get my college shit done by Sunday so I can go to the AA sale.

Soul Revival

With a doo-wop throw back sound, Mayor Hawthorne has my ear begging for more.

I can't wait for his debut album.

Playing Tricks On Me

Tease much?

What is teasing?

A sense of power, a hold over someone or something. Being able to toy with them or it at will.

Who has it?

Love this song.
Super old school, and I JUST found it a month ago.

Great night.
Chilling with K-G, ACS, P.F., & Ez.
I love Panda Express's orange chicken. Yum.

Which Street?

3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica.

I saw "Up" last night with ACS and Simon. Overall a chill night, which equals a great night.

Pray for my mom's comadre, she had surgery today.
Thanks.

Okayyyyy

Last night at The Roxy on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, I saw The Foreign Exchange perform for their first time in Los Angeles. I must say they were amazing, definitely the best concert I've been to so far. The live band was on point, and the vocals were beyond anything I was prepared for. Phonte, Darien Brockington, and Yahzarah can sing and make anything sound so soulful. They even took "Turn My Swag On" from a bad, mainstream intro into a soulful vibed out melody, I wished I could've recorded it.

Good times with my boys Simon, Hugh, and Paolo. Also saw Randy there, Cubs were definitely represented.

Pool Side

Last night was pretty chill.
I went to see one of my best friends for 12 years graduate from Arcadia High School. All I can say is public school's graduations are crazy!!! There were so many people there it was ridiculous. Me and Ez brought beach volleyballs, but for some reason we couldn't bring them in. WACK!

Oh well, after we searched way too long for my car because I forgot where I parked. Laugh now but someday it will happen to you. Micheline's casa, chilled with her fam, ate pizza (yum), and met her bud Phil.

After me and Ez hit up Pablo's graduation party and I must say it was pretty good.
I danced a little bit, wishing miss Salonga was there to dance with me. Oh well next time. Hit up the cliff side spot after and chilled with my boy Ez.
Good night.

Controversial

Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing", was controversial to say the least. It was released after a racially motivated police shooting was still fresh in the nation's mouth. Spike Lee does an amazing job depicting the racial intensity building along with the heat during the hot summer day.

I don't have time right to describe it in more detail.
Famous scene.

In Full Effect

Summer has officially begun, lazy mornings, chill afternoon's, and friends at night.

Met my significant others friend, Manika, today and was surprised at how chill she was. They kicked it with me till lunch, before they had to leave via Metro 79.

Micheline's graduation manana.

I love this re-make.

Endings

Endings only mark new beginnings.

Yesterday was my last day of high school. It was jubilant, yet bittersweet because LHS has been good to me and I will miss it. Papers, deadlines, posters, all of those I will NOT miss. High school issues are gone and left. College issues are sure to come. I look forward.

Now all I can do is enjoy the company of the people I love during this soon to be best summer of my life.

Go Lakers!

Just A Game

The Kickdrums first album "Just A Game" just dropped today. Of course I scooped it up as soon as I found a link. I've taken a listen and all I got to say is I love it! It's really different, but the new sound is much appreciated in a world over saturated in fake and plastic sounding music. Another plus is the album cover. I thought it was really cool and new.

Night's 4 Grad's

Grad Night took place on Thursday March 28, 2009.

What a night!
Disneyland was pretty chill, but the real thing which made it a night to remember where all my friends and my date, April. She really got along with my homies, and got the approval of my closest homies, which made me smile.

The clubs were aright. I personally had a better time dancing in the street randomly than in the "club," but hey that's just me.

Roscoe's was delicious like always, but the serving size was maybe a little big....

Days Like These

As the year rapidly comes to an end, I've looked back on my amazing experience at Loyola. While I go to various banquet's and eat my fill, I look around and see myself surrounded by men who I am proud to call my fellow Cubs and brothers. These past 4 years have truly been filled with life time memories and friends who always get my back.

I love yall.

Shout out to the Campus Ministry Team, you all are the best!!!

Last Meeting??

Today MPC met for the last time??

I'm still not sure if it really was our last meeting, but if it was MPC '09 went out with a bang. J-Wat held our attention with his thought provoking spoken word. Underclassmen, Lionel and Daniel shared some of their poems, young men coming up, watch out in 3 years they are gonna be damn good poets. Jared Jones finished it out by spitting over a beat box collaboration between seniors Elliot and Ez.

Everyone was legit today.

MPC '09 really stepped it up, the crew was diversified drawing from all races and all classes, from freshman to seniors. Big things happened this year which I was happy to witness. I sincerely hope big things continue to happen and eventually leading to MPC being a stable club of Loyola, providing a forum of expression.

Good times this year.

Friday, Saturday, & Sunday

I saw Star Trek on Friday with some of the "family." I must say it lived up to all the hype, and even went beyond. I never watched the show, mainly because it looked boring as hell, but the movie was far from boring. At the end of every action scene I was out of breath. Go out and watch it.

I saw Angels & Demons on Saturday with the homie Ez. Overall, we both agreed the book was superior. I also "bumped" into April C.S., which was really nice since I hadn't seen her in a long minute.

Today, I worked my butt off in the yard. However on the plus side I got a bit of a tan. Nice.

I can't wait for summer.
I know you can't either.

Alison Starling

Everyday in AP Government, Father O'Keefe plays the late night political joke reel a.k.a. the Politico Playback. Alison Starling, the host, is the love of the entire class. Father O'Keefe recently emailed her to tell of his class full of devoted fans.

Watch the video. Wait till the end, she shouts us out!
Made my day.

Never Judge A Book

By it's cover...

I've always wondered how people perceive those who walk by; acne face, tall guy, buff guy, short guy, pretty boy, gangsta, nerd, ect, ect, ect...

Lately these thoughts have been popping into my mind because I've wondered how people really perceive me. What is the first thing they think of when they spot me?

Young Talent

The MPC has new talent, and they are young!

With the end of the year rapidly coming, I was getting a little worried of what direction MPC would take next year, if any. A couple of weeks ago, my worries were put to rest. Jared Jones, a freshman at LHS, stepped up and came with lyrics beyond his age. Over these past weeks, more and more young members are coming forward and they are all truly talented.

I am excited to see how they progress, and will definitely stay in contact.

Childhood Comic: G.I. Joe

I can't wait to see this.

AP This, AP That

AP test's are finally at my doorstep.

When I open my door on Monday, I will be faced with the AP U.S. Government test.

I am currently studying my butt off for this test and I'm having loads of "fun."

Friday is the AP European History test, which shouldn't be too hard once I've studied for it.

After these tests, the holy land awaits of 2 free periods and easy classes for the rest of senior year.

Let's get it.

As Time Passes

We tend to always be looking back on happy events in our past through pictures, old text messages, blogs ect. ect. ect. We are striving to capture what we once had, even if just for a moment.

I say we look forward to the many new moments to be made.

It's All Good.

Lately, things have been going my way.

Late night talks. Random jerking dance video's being shot at LHS. Video game fiesta's. In-n-Out splurges. New music discoveries. Meeting new people. Cross country trips.

It's been all good.

It's all good.
